On 5 March, 2025 I published an op-ed in the National Post saying that the election of Donald Trump had changed everything about the looming federal election. Pierre Poilievre needs to abandon his fixation of e.g. the carbon tax and show Canadians that he can be a tough representative of their interests at the negotiasting tasble with the US president. My advice to Poilievre: go to Washington, get on the highest profile platform he can find, and tell Mr Trump in no uncertain terms what he can expect from a Poilievre prime ministership. And of course Canadians would be listening too….
