Westac talk on regulatory reform in Calgary, October 20th
ILS keynote in Calgary on property rights and natural resources
My friend Matt Bufton of the Institute for Liberal Studies (ILS) is organising a terrific conference on property rights to be held in Calgary 16-17 October. I’ll be the lunchtime speaker on Friday the 17th talking about both property rights issues as they relate to natural resources in Canada in general and more specifically I’ll look at First Nations property claims. Details from Matt at ILS.

Ottawa talk on internal trade barriers and setting Canadians free!
The Calgary School of Public Policy is holding an event in Ottawa on Sept. 15th to discuss Canada’s international trade agenda. Fortunately they realise that internal trade barriers are just as germane to Canada’s economic success as international ones and so they’ll be having a panel on just that under the able chairmanship of my friend Ailish Campbell of CCCE. Come join the fun at the Chateau Laurier that day. Details from the School.

Speaking in Calgary on October 8th on the concept of “social licence”
Regular visitors to this site will know I am a vociferous critic of the concept of social licence. I’ll be in Calgary on Wednesday, October 8th to speak on a panel at a conference sponsored by the Energy and Environment Programme of the Calgary School of Public Policy. The conference is titled “Social License in the Regulatory Arena: A Useful Concept?”. I’ll be one of the panellists in the 3rd panel session titled “Who “Owns” or “Issues” Social License? Contact the School for more information.
