Special Presentation Open to the Public: Lessons for America from Canada’s Fiscal Fix

The Institute for Liberal Studies and the University of Ottawa’s Economics Student Association will co-host a special lecture this evening, Tuesday, November 13, featuring Brian. Dr. Crowley will discuss his latest book published by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, Northern Light: Lessons for America from Canada’s Fiscal Fix, co-authored by Robert P. Murphy and Niels Veldhuis. The presentation begins at 7 PM in Lamoureux Hall, Room 106 at the University of Ottawa. This event is open to the public and no registration is required. Northern Light: Lessons for America from Canada’s Fiscal Fix

As the United States wrestles with its growing fiscal crisis, this presentation will consider what lessons Americans and their political leadership might draw from Canada’s experience in the 1990s when our nation slew its deficit dragon, balanced the budget, fixed public pensions and social welfare and forged a national consensus in favour of responsible public finances.
